Senior Hunger in Colorado: An Aging Population, A Growing Need

Hunger is a major problem within the senior community.  In Colorado, the number of older adults experiencing a threat of hunger has increased 78% from 2001 to 2010.  This two-hour training will focus on the health implications for older adults as well as the economic challenges to our health care system and the nation if we do not address the problem of growing food insecurity among our most vulnerable citizens.   Where to find help, how to access federal and state food assistance programs, the unique nutritional needs of older adults and the risk factors associated with poor nutrition will be addressed.
