The aging of America is the most significant demographic trend of our time. It’s expected that by 2030 the U.S. population of people over 65 will have more than doubled from 35 million in 2000 to 71.5 million. This “aging of America” will also bring an increase in the number of people with cognitive disabilities such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other health conditions that will require guardianship of incapacitated older adults.
